DAY 23– THURSDAY 27TH DECEMBER, 2018…

Today is our last day up at the farm.  We are booked on the ferry this evening at 6.30pm so we need to leave here no later than 3.30pm.  Elsie Marie had to go to work this morning, so she was up and gone before we even got out of bed.  Dudi was also leaving today and heading back to Aarhus.  It was a working day for Pete so he was working remotely from up at the farm.
Today was mostly spent repacking, cleaning up the house from the onslaught of everyone over Christmas, and Dudi, Maria and I dismantled the Christmas Tree and packed all the decorations away.
A little nap before we head off...

Carl Emil was busy with a butcher who had come out to slaughter a couple more of their boars, and in the end had to drop Dudi into Hjorring a little earlier than planned so that he could be on hand to help the butcher once he slaughtered the animals.
Elsie Marie was sent home from work early to spend some time with us which was really nice, especially for her as she got to spend a little more time with her precious grandson also….  Theodore is so theodorably gorgeous at the moment and a delight to be around…..

By the time we made some sandwiches and got some food together for our trip home on the ferry, it was close to 4pm by the time we finally got away and quite dark now, for our drive back to Aarhus to catch the ferry back to Sjaelland Odde for the last leg of our journey back to Copenhagen.
We had a good clear run, we fuelled up just outside of Hjorring and then it was almost a direct drive to the ferry terminal in Aarhus.  We did have to stop about 10 minutes out of Aarhus to give Theodore a feed as he was getting quite upset in the back and we didn’t want him so worked up that he wouldn’t be able to feed when we got to the ferry.  Fortunately, we were close to Aarhus, so we need we would still arrive with a little time to spare before having to board the ferry.
Our timing was pretty perfect, and we arrived just as they were starting to board the cars onto the ferry.  Once again, Pete was the first to head upstairs and get a table for us whilst we grabbed the gear we would need and locked the car.

The amazing hot chocolates we were served on the ferry.
Chocolate balls in warm milk, make for great hot chocolates...

This time the crossing was at night, so there really was nothing to see.  The ferry was full but it was a smooth ride.  Unfortunately we lost Theodore’s lovely hand knitted jumper on the ferry, which was a bit of a bummer….
From Sjaelland Odde we only had just over an hour until we were back home in Copenhagen.   We were home by about 9pm which was pretty good really.
Our time in Denmark is flying,  only a few more days until we head off to Iceland and then it is only a couple of days until we head home….
