TODAY IS THE DAY... BIRTHDAYS AND THE ARRIVAL OF FAMILY FROM DENMARK....

Big day today.  The one we have all been looking forward too... Pete and Maria arrive tonight for a month's visit.  We are all pretty excited.  Sarah is yet to meet her first nephew, and the children are excited to meet their first cousin...

It is also Dan's birthday today, so we are all heading out for dinner this evening before heading to the airport to meet Pete, Maria and Theo.

The children are so excited about meeting their new cousin that the morning was spent making welcome signs to take out to the airport...

It was also the day for haircuts.  One must look good if meeting their new cousin, so as Steve also needed a haircut, we took Willow and Max along to get their hair cut also.  This was Willow's first haircut, and although she was a little reluctant to get her hair trimmed to start with, we assured her that we would only let them cut off a couple of inches off the ends....

Max ended up getting his hair cut first.  He was very good this time.  I remember the previous time we had his hair cut, we had to bribe him with the iPad to get him to let them cut his hair.  This time, he happily crawled up onto the chair...

 It was her turn next...
She was a little nervous to start with but I think once she realized that they weren't cutting it all off she was right.

She was pretty happy with the overall finish...

Then it was Steve's turn to face the barber...
Whilst Steve was getting his hair cut,  Max enjoyed playing on the $2 ride machine, situated just outside the Barbers, and Willow spent her time  prancing around and spinning out her hair and her dress..

In the afternoon we read stories.. well Willow read to us,  considering she is only in grade one her reading is very good..

Once everyone had finished work,  we got ready and headed into Dan and Chloe's, as it was Dan's birthday and we were all going out for dinner to celebrate before heading out to the airport to welcome Pete, Maria and Theo..

We ended up at a restaurant just down the road from Dan and Chloe's at Coorparoo Square.

Steve's dinner
The kids had burgers and chips
Dan & Colin had buffalo wings

After dinner we had about half an hour to get to the airport, park and be in the terminal before Pete and Maria's flight arrived.

We got a little lost getting to the airport, as Dan and Chloe were trying to avoid the tolls.  At least Sarah and Colin get their on time.  Fortunately for us, Pete and Maria's flight was about 15 minutes late getting in, so in the end we made it and were all ready to greet them as they came down the escalator.  Signs and all.
They have arrived.... so excited, we have been waiting for weeks for this moment.  We have them home for a whole month.   We have looked forward to this moment from the time we arrived back from Denmark in January.  Let the Aussie Adventures begin....
