A VISIT UP TO MOUNT ARCHER

The road up to the summit of Mount Archer has been closed for almost 12 months whilst redevelopment has been taking place.  It opened to the public about 6 weeks ago, so we decided to go for a Sunday afternoon drive up their to check out the new scenic walk.

What a transformation and it isn't finished yet.  There is still one final stage to be completed, and that is the new green area and picnic area...  They now have a lovely ampitheatre area with amazing views of the river and Rockhampton itself...

Lots of bush fires around at the moment...

You can also go on a lovely walk  which juts out the side of the mountain and take in views of the city and then around the other side of the mountain, there are stunning views of Mt Jim Crop and Mt Hedlow, along with stunning views of the Capricorn Coast on a clear day....

They have also installed an amazing nature play area for children as well...  Hats off to our local council....
I was a little disappointed that most of the picnic tables have been removed, but my understanding is that they will all be redone and revamped in the final stage of development up here....  Here's hoping...

Definitely will be going up here more often..
