TIME TO DECLUTTER

It has been a couple of years, since I have given our cupboards a very good clean out... With all our trips away, we haven't had much spare time at home, and it seems we are always waiting for holidays to tackle the big jobs, yet holidays are not spent at home...

This year I have decided to tackle one drawer at a time, although some still seem overwhelming...
I first tackled the drawers in our bedroom.  WE had clothes jammed packed in them that I had trouble opening the doors, and then you had no idea what clothes were in them, because they were all piled on top of each other, which meant that every time you wanted a particular shirt, you would have to reef through them all to find it, which always left the drawers messy.

My friend Barb, had a great clean out of her drawers following the Marie Condo Method and her drawers looked amazing.  the beauty was the way in which they were followed, so at a glance whenever you opened your drawers, you could see every piece of clothing in the drawer, which made it much easier to choose what you wanted without messing anything up...

I set out to the cheap shops to buy the suitable boxes that I would need, but couldn't find anything to fit my drawers, so ended up at office works...

When cleaning out cupboards or such, she suggests that you tip everything out and then go through and decide what you can throw away and what you want to keep... I still think I have probably kept too much, but we did turf an awful lot also....  We had that many socks, that we would never have been able to wear them all in a life time, so lots of those went...

They all had to go...
Way more than we need...

Steve's house clothes, all neatly packed away, so at least you can see them all now...
Dressier T shirts and shorts...
Undies, socks and hankies...
My Undies, socks and hankies
Shorts and T Shirts for around the house..
3/4 sleeve shirts and light weight cardigans...

Rubbish to check...
The following weekend, I progressed out of our bedroom and into the hallway, and tackled the linen cupboard...
Linen Cupboard.
This has been so much easier to keep clean and tidy....  Some linen went also...  Towels are all rolled, and the smaller things, like T Towels, washers, hand towels etc, are all followed into their own little boxes.  Bed Linen is all stored in a pillow case, so that once you come to make your bed, everything you needed can be grabbed in one hit... Has made it so much easier...

From the Linen Cupboard, I moved into the Hall Cupboard, and I was quite ruthless in here....
Hall Cupboard.

I got rid of lots of games, and containers from this cupboard... and where I could tried to store things in boxes where possible...

My the hall cupboard it was into the kitchen.  The pantry was a big job but it is done now... Have even managed to do a couple of the cupboards in the kitchen also.  Have boxes of plates that we need to drop down at Vinnies...Just got to find the time to take them there now...
Pantry done and dusted now...

Hopefully I will get to finish the kitchen in the holidays in a couple of weeks time.  I should then also have time to do the Vinnie drop off as well...

The only other area I have started was our office.  It took me a good two and a half days to go through two drawers in my filing cabinet, as I had to spread all of the student records I still had from my job at USQ 10 years ago.....

Slowly and surely will win the race, so I will just keep plodding along...
