I have been fortunate that for the past two years I have missed that crazy end of year workload at work, as in 2017 we were doing our lap around Australia, and then this time last year we were on our way to Denmark to visit Pete and Maria..
I certainly haven't missed it this year though. I thought I would have forgotten what to do but it all comes rushing back....
It is that time of year when every resource in the school has to be chased up and returned, I am talking 1000's of items of books, resources, maths and science equipment. Not only do they all need to be scanned back in but then they all need to be shelved or houses somewhere in the Library.
Then there is the packing of the curriculum boxes for all staff and these need to be ready for them to borrow for 2020 before the end of the year. Add to that the cleaning of the computers and just cleaning up the Library in general and it is a pretty full on load. It is never ending...

Boxes of new books and resources all need to be catalogued... |

Never ending boxes of new resources... |
Well this year we have just added to the mix, as on Tuesday, we received an order of Home Readers, that all need to be accessioned, catalogued and then covered. There are only 1,400 new books, and then on top of that we also received 5 large boxes from Woolworth's Earn and Learn. These also need to be accessioned, and catalogued, but hopefully no covering here....
Fortunately, I have been pulled from class for the last two weeks of school to start to tackle this huge load.... I have now asked for the other aides to be pulled next week as well... I am very blessed to work with some great teacher aides who have all rallied around this week, and if they have not been required in a classroom have come down to volunteer time to help. Still the job is mammoth and almost seems unending...

Bookclub books that arrived on Monday.. all catalogued and covered, before the onslaught of the new books. |
Not only has all these books arrived, but we our last bookclub order for the year arrived on Monday as well, so I quickly got in and catalogued and covered these new books before the arrival of our Macmillian home readers....
Now it is a full on job to unpack the home readers and get the process started of cataloguing them...
 |
Sorting and leveling them ready to catalogue.. |
 |
Barcodes and stickers all get put on first |
 |
Then they need to be SCICsed before entering them into our Catalogue |
 |
Then it's time to stamp them all with the school stamp.. |
 |
Then preparing for covering... Contact cut and they are put in piles for people to cover... |
 |
We now have large piles of books ready to be covered... |
Last night I even bought books home, so that I could add the stickers, and write in them before we need to SCICs them.

Production line of work at home... |
 |
Another batch ready to be put on the computer... |
Ah the end of year joys..
Usually we don't receive this much new stock in the last two weeks of school, so the end of year this year is crazy busy...
BRING ON THE HOLIDAYS.......
