Does anyone remember A.L Stewart the Old mayor and he had the car yard.


Raymond Toft I do, understand he passed away in the last week
·        Lyn McLean - Raymond Toft oh no. Really. Was he still in Bundy.
·        Cheryl Moore I believe he lived on the Sunshine Coast.
·        Lyn McLean-  Cheryl Moore okay I went to school with Judith. Did athletics together!
·        Michael Darcy - Tobin Raymond Toft what age mate.
·        Raymond Toft Understand he was living in Caloundra and in his 80s
·        Gilbert Deem Ran into him in Melbourne at a meeting. Chatted with him for quite a while. May he RIP.
·        Danny Carswell - Lyn McLean I ran with Judy as well Des Dahl coached us.
·        Danny Carswell Gee he was a good bloke. My Dad and he really enjoyed many long chats.
·        Deb Hartley-Bonel - Raymond Toft oh no that is sad! He was an amazing man. RIP Alan Stewart ๐Ÿ˜ข
·        Deb Hartley-Bonel - Raymond Toft well he was born in a year ending in a 1. Maybe 89 as I am 59 this year. Can remember when I was 40, he told me he had a milestone birthday too!
·        Karen Latham - Raymond Toft This wonderful man was 88 and a half and lived at Warana on the Sunshine Coast and right to the end of his life, He still loved Bundy.

·         Darryl Roth yes he had boats where Toyworld is now on the opposite corner to Maccas. I used to live in the last house in Heidke St at the time it was a dead end street.
·        Darryl Roth Peter Newitt ok, I made holiday pocket money by raking friggen gum tree leaves at Chesney for Mr Kraak. I think he was caravan dept manager.

Liz Siefken Yep, we bought cars from him frequently.
Peter N Jillian Beasley I was just talking to his daughter Karen a couple of weeks ago and AL is doing well.
·        Esther Chapman Peter N Jillian Beasley Alan Stewart passed away on Friday.

Peter N Jillian Beasley A group of us girls from school also did a weekly bible study with his daughter Leanne back in the 80’s in their house on Queen St. It was quite majestic back then.
John Simpson I used to work for him at Stewart’s Motor City.
David Bailey Just noticed he passed away.
Sandy Barratt Yes he had a AL Stewart holden dealership. I brought my first car from. Him
Mickey Barrett Delivered groceries in a Bedford truck for the BCC in Bourbong St back in 50s.
Shirley Davies yes. he lived in Queen st North Bundy. just up on the hill left hand side.
Selwyn Nutley Sold Chesney Caravans also.
Janine Barrett He subdivided Kingswood country?
Merv Negus He and his father were general carriers, he took over the General Motors dealership in approx. 1965 and set up in north Bundaberg
Sue Burke A nice gentleman and astute businessman who also became our mayor.

Ross Eastgate He wore a dreadful rug.
Lorraine Johannesen Alan and his wife Margaret were good friends of my parents. I am still in contact with two of his daughters and was sorry to hear that he passed away just last Thursday evening.
Many good memories have been left by this wonderful couple.

·        Judy Stewart McCracken Hello Lyn, yes I am on this page now and I appreciate all the lovely comments by everyone. It would be great to catch up for a coffee at some time after I come home. I'll be away for another week and a half as dad's funeral is this Friday and my sisters and I have some things to go through in the following week.

·        Judy Stewart McCracken Thanks Leanne. We are very sad to have had to say goodbye to our dad, but he was so peaceful and ready to go. We had the privilege of being there with him until the end. He will leave a huge hole in our lives, but he lived a wonderful life and was a great example for us to follow. We have now moved back to Bundy and it would be lovely to catch up with you and Kay again. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Scott Nicol Alan Stewart passed away last Thursday aged 88. He was a wonderful asset to Bundaberg in many ways. His funeral will be held at 11am this coming Friday, 20th March, at the Lifepointe Baptist Church, Wises Rd, Buderim.

Jocelyn Cook My Dad Ron Burgess worked for Alan over north & and the current site. He drove the Holdens back from Brisbane to Bundy & towed the Cheney caravans & boats back also. Ron later ran the service station. Alan was always very good to Dad.
RIP Alan.
Judy Stewart McCracken Hi Jocelyn, I remember your dad so well. He drove our wedding car and we really liked him. Had a lot of interaction with him over the years. My dad thought very highly of him too. So sorry to hear he has passed on too.

·          Jocelyn Cook -  Judy Stewart McCracken thanks Judy. Dad was always such a giving person. Always loved to give a helping hand. He was a great Dad & still miss him always. He thought the world of Alan & know the feeling was mutual. I remember Alan spoke at Dads funeral & knew Dad would have been very honoured. So sad to think they’ve both gone. You will miss your Dad very much.

Phil Holden I worked for him as a mechanic then salesman. still remember him being hammered by staff at a Christmas party and he took it well.
Jeanette Harford Cliff worked for Alan he was with him at north Bundaberg then when he started and built motor city he and Marg were very good friends we will miss them both now.

Jennifer Cripps He developed the estate Kingswood Country on Childers Road. All the streets are named after holdens. The estate name has since changed.
Coral Warmington Knew him & his family through going to church together & he sold my first caravan to live in.
Vernette Hillyard He used to deliver the groceries from the B.B.C.to us. I think it was the Johnsons carriers the truck he drove. He was a lovely man
Julie Buettel My husband did his apprenticeship there and he has fully restored ALs old car which we still have

Denise Bowman-Gillespie Yeh he had a dealership over north we bought our new car ๐Ÿš˜ from him of course it was a Holden there is a driveway at the botanical gardens named after him I think he had a lot to do with making the botanical gardens whilst he was Mayor I meet him several times a real gentleman
Heather Kington Lovely couple and played lots of netball with and against their daughter Leanne!!! Beautiful girl had the honour of attending her wedding at the civic centre so beautiful!! I hope she is well and happy

Stewart Holden loves to trade on a good used car Northside and southside of the traffic bridge.
Heather Kington Very sad news I remember Mr Stewart and my dad Mr Don Kington ( also passed) watching Leanne and I on opposing teams in netball grand finals cheering for us side by side !!! Lovely man
