PADDLEBOARDING BACK DOWN AT WELLINGTON POINT.....
Dan and Chloe both got new paddleboards this week...
They were totally ready to trial them out and as they were pretty busy in the morning we only had a couple of hours in the afternoon to test them, so rather than take them both out, they decided to just take the one and see how long it took them to set it up and pull it down...
It was way quicker than they expected, so in hindsight we probably could have bought both boards down to the coast...
They also decided to bring Mia down and introduce her to the beach also. As both Steve and I were going with them, it was the ideal time to bring her as there would always be someone who could hold her or look after her...
They are also keen to introduce her to the water and get her used to swimming...
We arrived back down at Wellington Point just after 1pm and set about blowing up the paddleboard..
A two way pump came with the board so that made light work of the job at hand...
Once we had it blown up, it was down to the water. We had to carry it through the park as we were unable to get a park near the beach area, but Dan is nice and strong so he got the job.
As it was Chloe's paddleboard that we had bought down, it was deemed that she should be the first person to have a go...
Dan was the next to have a go,
Whilst Dan was out Paddleboarding, Chloe thought she would give Mia a bit of a swim and see if she could get her used to the water... She was a little afraid of it initially and I still don't think she is too keen but her desire to get to Chloe over rode her fear of the water.... The shallower it was, the better as far as she was concerned...
She didn't last in there too long so Chloe let her come out and she was quite happy to sit with me on the sidelines...

Wet and bedraggled.... |
Once Dan had come back in, Steve decided that he would like to have a go. I can also tell you that had I bought my swimmers down to Brissie, I would have been up for it also. Steve at least was able to borrow a pair of swimmers off Dan...
He was a little worried about how he would go balancing on it, but he managed really well and never came off at all... He probably did way better than both Chloe and Dan who both took a tumble...
Whilst Steve was having a go on the board, Dan decided to try and coax Mia back into the water one more time...
She seemed to not be quite as hesitant this time round. Both Dan and Chloe were keen to take her for a ride out on the paddle board so as soon as Steve came back in from his turn, they introduced Mia to the paddleboard. She actually seemed to like it... Probably because she was with Dan and Chloe once more. She doesn't like them out of her sight....
We spent a good couple of hours down at the Point. The kids are really keen to come again, but dogless next time and with both the paddleboards...
Time to head back to the car and deflate the board. Not sure how long this would take but it didn't take too long at all, and we were able to fold it up and put it straight back into it's backpack. I am sure the kids are going to have a ton of fun with these boards...
Whilst these guys got to pack up the board, I got the job of looking after Mia... a job I don't mind at all. She is such an adorable little puppy, such a beautiful natured little thing, but already getting way too spoilt...We got back to Dan and Chloe's around 3.45pm, a little later than we had planned. We needed to pack and get on the road heading back to the Sunshine Coast. We had been invited to Sarah's in-laws for dinner and were expected there by 6pm. Our plan was to try and leave Brissie by 4.30pm to give ourselves plenty of time incase of traffic congestion but it was just a few minutes after 5pm when we pulled out of Dan and Chloe's driveway..
Fortunately we had a clear run all the way to Landsborough where Kay and Tony live. We diverted from the main highway and took the scenic drive along the Steve Irwin Way. We have done this drive before but usually from the Sunshine Coast into Brisbane, not the other way round. I am so pleased we did, as it was beautiful and you get a totally different perspective of the Glass House Mountains coming the other way.
We arrived on time, just a couple of minutes past 6pm. We had a really delightful evening with them, catching up on family news and seeing their new home. When they first moved to the Sunshine Coast they stayed in our home until they were able to buy a home for themselves. It was a mutually beneficial deal with them being able to look after our home down here for us, and also a lot cheaper rent than if they had to stay in their caravan in a caravan park, so it was a win win situation for us both...
Kay served a beautiful meal of Chicken with a nut crusted topping served with Mango sauce and vegetables and for desert we have cheesecake and ice cream. We were totally spoilt. It was nice to see them and spend some time with them. They were heading north of a little adventure of their own, so we plan to have them around next time we are down, as we have run out of time this visit...
It was close to 11pm by the time we arrived back at our place. What a lovely weekend it has been...
I could so easily live down here permanently..
