FISHING WITH HIS DAD...

 One of the things Steve has enjoyed since retirement is taking his Dad out fishing...  It is almost too much for him now, and he is definitely not well enough to do it on his own now.  His Dad is still passionate about fishing especially in his mind, but his body struggles, so Steve feels that this is one little thing he can do for his Dad...

He headed down to Bundy so that he could help them with a couple of jobs and then his plan was to drive him up to Turkey for a fishing Trip..

His Mum cooked him his favourite meal...

His Mum's famous roast chicken dinner....

All his brother's love this meal also, and whenever any of them are home and score a meal like this, the other boys all get photos of it....

Steve wanted to drive his Dad up to Turkey, but he wouldn't have a bar of it, and as I wasn't comfortable with Steve being a passenger, in the end, they both drove their own cars there.  The whole idea of wanting to drive his Dad there was so that he could rest, as he spends most mornings sleeping at home...

As a result of him driving up, there was no fishing done the following day.  His dad was just way too exhausted so he spent most of the day on the couch sleeping....

A day of recovery....

This meant that they only had a couple of days left to fish...  The following morning they took off around 8.30am for a day out on the water...

The fishing wasn't the best,  It is too much for Steve's Dad to pump yabbies these days, so this is one of the jobs that Steve can do for his Dad..

They did have a long full day out on the water and almost at home time started catching fish, so this meant they ended up staying out a little longer....

They managed to get one good size mud crab and a feed of fish...

1st Day's catch..

They came back in on sunset... It was lovely watching the sunset over the water....

The second day they went out, the fishing wasn't that good at all.  They didn't catch as much as they did the previous day....  plus they were out longer...

2nd day's catch..

Even though these trips since to knock his dad around a bit, they also seem to give him a new lease on life until he gets home that is....

Still it is something that Steve enjoys doing also, so it really is nice for him to be able to do something like this for his Dad....
