GIRLS AFTERNOON DOWN AT THE BEACH..

With the perfect weather at the moment, it was too good to just stay at home indoors, so Eleonore, Dorothy and I headed down to Yeppoon this afternoon for a swim in the Yeppoon Lagoon.  We got down there just before 3pm..

I was keen for a swim, but the other girls were just content to sit and look out to sea..

I also ran into one of the girls I used to work with, who was down having a swim with her daughter and three month old grand daughter.  It was nice to catch up with June again and actually meet her sweet little grandbaby...  She has sent me photos but it was actually lovely to meet her in real life...

Catching up with June...

I hit the water after to June.  I hadn't bought my swim gear down so just enjoyed a frolic in the water and just was in the moment, savoring the feel of the water, the sound of the birds and other folks around me and just totally feeling relaxed...

I also did a 40 minute walk through the water, always makes one feel good after exercising in the water... in fact it makes you feel exhilerated...  By the time I got out, the girls were ready to have an ice cream, so once I got dressed we shouted outselves a magnum each.. We all picked different flavours.  I had the chocoated coated almond magnum, Dorothy chose a classic one and Eleonore opted for a white chocolate one...

By the time we had finished out ice creams, it was almost 5pm, so we decided to go for a quick drive around to Wreck Point to the lookout.  It had been a while since Dorothy had been here and so was keen to see the new changes.

We really do live in a beautiful part of the country, for too many years I took it all for granted...

The views from the lookout looking down along the beach are just lovely...  Reminds me of some of the views that we saw along the headlands when we were in Iceland, only the sand there was black and not the lovely golden colour it is here...

From he we took a quick drive around to Roslyn Bay so we could take a walk out on the rocks around Double Head...  There are lots of caves into the side of the Head, with lots of column of rock which is the left over from the volcanic plugs in the area...  All very interesting rock formations...

It was beautiful being out on the rocks, a couple of seagulls caught our attention as they sat on the rocks taking in their surroundings... There were a few groups of people out fishing on the rocks, and several others just like us, sitting them taking in their surroundings...

Almost a full moon tonight...

We watched a huge motor boat head back in from sea to the Marina....  It looked quite stunning coming in with the apricot sky in the background.

We watched it go past us and around the rock wall before heading back to the car....

As we got back to the car we noticed that the sun was just about to set, so we wandered over to the marina to enjoy the last moments before it completely went behind the hill.  It was beautiful as the golden and orange rays lit up the water in the marina in front of us....

As the sun was setting the big cruiser that we watched come across the bay turned into the marina and I managed to get some more lovely shots of it with the sun setting in the background..

It really was a lovely way to end our afternoon down on the coast... We really hadn't planned to stay down here this long, but it was will happy hearts that we left down here to drive home...

We really need to do this more often... getting outdoors and appreciating the beauty around us does more for your mental well being than anything else.  It makes you feel alive and grateful and blessed...
