DAY 5 - EASTER AT TANNUM SANDS 2021.....
We didn't awaken to rain like we had expected, or as the weather bureau had predicted. It was though quite overcast.
The kids were up early and excited to see that the Easter Bunny had indeed visited our caravan and had left them baskets of eggs and bunny, A real chocolate overload.
This is the only day of the year that they are allowed chocolate for Breakfast, in fact it is the only day of the year that they are also allowed to eat chocolate without asking for it first...
There were bunny footprints everywhere when the kids woke up this morning... |
Both Willow and Max were pretty stoked with their stash of eggs and chocolate...
Watch out Max... Poppy just might eat it.... |
Someone very proud of her super big Easter Egg |
Max's obviously has an egg that is full of something.... all getting whether it is smarties or jellybeans... |
The Easter Bunny even managed to come visit Steve and I also....
We awoke to find a lovely big box of chocolates sitting on our table outside, along with these cute little chocolate bunnies from Sarah and Colin and the children...
Elia and Hugo arrived over early to show their stash of Eggs with the children. Once they hear our kids up, they make a bee line to our campsite. We haven't minded this as it keeps our kids happy and it means that most of the adults manage a bit of a sleep in.
Willow's stash of eggs..... |
Poppy decided to cook us all a lovely breakfast for Easter Sunday with a little help from Sarah. We all tucked into a lovely serve of bacon and eggs....
Max was loving the fact that he didn't have to ask to have his chocolate today, that he could eat it whenever he wanted it.... Normally sweets are very portioned out over a number of days in the Moore household so he was making the most of it today....Colin and Willow enjoyed some down time before we all gathered under the big tarp for a Easter Devotion which was being given by Craig...
Around 9.30am we all gathered under the big Tarp for a bit of a sing along and a devotion to centre our thoughts on the real meaning of Easter.. It was a lovely informal time together but it did cement in our minds the priviledge we have of being called sons and daughters of the most high God, and it let us reflect of the supreme cost that was paid for us to have a right standing relationship with our creator...
Sunday morning get together... |
Hot cross buns for morning tea for everyone.... |
After lunch, Colin and Willow decided to join Steve out fishing and crabbing. They had success with the crabpots today bringing home a couple of huge crabs. The fishing has been a bit hit and miss this trip with hardly any fish being caught.
One of the highlights for Willow of this afternoon out in the boat, was the pod of dolphins that followed them home. This is the first time she has seen dolphins in the wild.
Whilst Steve, Colin and Willow were out fishing, Sarah, I and Max joined others under the big tarp where we all spent the afternoon playing card games. We mostly enjoyed laying a game of Five Crowns.
Glen was a newbie to the game but still managed to come second overall... |
We had a lot of fun playing this and the funny thing was, both the newbies to the game ended up winning. It wasn't long after we finished playing that the fishermen returned home. Willow was super excited about seeing the dolphins, it was obviously the highlight of her time out on the water, even more exciting than the fish she had caught. They had also picked up another couple of crabs, so crabs was what now was on our menu for dinner tonight....
Whilst Steve was cooking them (love it when we have seafood on our menu for the night as it means I don't have to cook) I caught up with one of the girls that I used to work with who was also holidaying down at Tannum Sands.
Our dinner for tonight |
Dinner was fantastic. Nothing nicer than eating freshly cooked crab and even nicer when you eat it outdoors when camping...
One of the guys who comes camping with us each year loves to get a bit of a bonfire going and will always bring a trailer load of wood to burn, He normally sets it all up later afternoon so that we have a fire each evening and then those that want to sit around the fire in the evening can enjoy it. It is not often that we get to go sit around it when we have the kids because it is a little too far away from our actual campsite, but now as the kids are getting a little bigger and we can be confident that if they wake up they will not wander, we decided that we could go and mingle with everyone and enjoy some time around a campfire...
It really was a lovely way to end the day..
Surprisingly the predicted rain for the day never eventuated, and although it was overcast all day with a few very minor showers or spitting of rain, it certainly didn't limit our movements around the park or prevent us from doing any of the activities that folk wanted to do.
We couldn't have asked for anything better really...
