A COUPLE OF NIGHTS AT HERVEY BAY....

The van is packed and we were up early heading to Hervey Bay for a few days before we meet up with Ian and Kathy and John and Barb for our holidays to Agnes Water and Cania Gorge...

We have had the kids for the last ten days and we had arranged with Sarah to meet in Maryborough to hand over the children.

We got away around 6am and had a pretty good run only stopping at Mirriam Vale for a toilet break and then again on in Childers before finally arriving just after 11am. We had arranged to meet at Anzac Park and Ululah Lagoon for lunch.  We arrived a little before Sarah and let the children had a play on the playground whilst we waited and set up lunch...

We all had lunch together and then Sarah and the children headed off around 1pm for the trip back to Brisbane.  Meanwhile we headed onto Hervey Bay where we were booked into the Ingenia Caravan Park at Scarness...

Once again we were booked in on Site 6, one which we have camped on before and loved because we could drive straight through with the van.

We arrived mid afternoon and set up the van, hooked up the TV so that we could have a pretty chilled out evening as Steve's foot was  pretty sore.  We didn't feel like cooking so decided on take away for dinner tonight.  We ordered a garlic prawn pizza from Mimo's not far from where we were staying.  It was absolutely delicious with heaps of prawns on it.  It was way to big to eat for one meal so we kept the leftovers to have for lunch the following day.

The following morning we had arranged to catch up with friends Steve and Toni Case for morning tea at their new home which is situated right on the Mary River at Tinana.  Steve's foot was still pretty sore but we managed the drive into Maryborough and met them around 10am at their place where we enjoyed morning tea on the deck overlooking the river.  Their new home is beautiful, such a beautiful aspect from all areas of their house with amazing river views.   We had a lovely time with them and spent a good couple of hours chatting and catching up on family news...

Our plan for the afternoon had been to explore more of Maryborough whilst we were in there but Steve's foot was still way too sore to do any degree of walking so instead we headed back to the van at the Bay for rest for the afternoon.  We were keen for Steve to get his foot right before we met up with the others in a couple of days time...

I must admit, I really didn't mind us having a quite afternoon.  Life has been pretty hectic the last couple of weeks with running after our beautiful grandchildren so it was nice to just stop and not have to do anything.  We both just chilled,  I did some reading and Steve watched a series on Netflix...  It has been quite a while since we have been able to chill out like this...

When we woke the following morning, although Steve's foot was a little better, it was still pretty tender so we didn't have too many plans for the day, we had another chilled out morning around the van before deciding around lunch time that it was time to at least go for a bit of a drive as we were starting to  get a little cabin fever...

We didn’t plan to do much walking but did end up at Urangan and decided to walk out along the pier.  We probably walked out about 2/3’s of the way out and there were heaps of people out there fishing.  Saw a sight we had not seen before,  when we saw a lady out thigh and waist deep in the water a good 100-200m off shore reading a book.  From here we drove around past the marina and found a fish co-op shop where we stopped and bought prawns and scallops.

We bought fresh prawns & scallops here... Totally Yum.

We then headed back to Woolies to do a bit of a shop to get us through to Agnes Waters.  After going home and packing it all away, we then headed for a drive out to Point Vernon just to get out and enjoy the fresh air and scenery around the Bay.

Whilst driving around the water near Point Vernon we came across a mob of kangaroos just grazing in the afternoon sun...

It was almost sunset so we decided it was time to head home.  We  had thought we might order in another pizza but after picking up the prawns and scallops. Steve decided to make curried prawns and scallops on toast for dinner instead.

When we arrived home we found this fellow comfortably sitting on our caravan near our door.  Good thing our grand daughter isn't with us as this would have freaked her out.  Whilst we were camping she put her hand on the stair rail when heading to the toilet and accidentally touch a frog, it gave her such a fright and she has been terrified of them ever since...   Green frogs seem to be everywhere this year...

As we were leaving in the morning, we decided to pack up our chairs and a few other bits and pieces so that we could get away on time the following morning...  We had a very relaxed and chilled out evening again that night once we had prepared all we needed to pack.
