A 30TH BIRTHDAY AND MOTHER'S DAY.
Mother's Day was very special this year... Not only did I get to share it with my girls ( the first in many many years) but I also got to share Chloe's special day with her also. This year she turns 30, a big milestone, so we celebrated together... We celebrated Mother's Day in the morning and the afternoon became her birthday celebrations...
It was a low key day as the real celebrations for her birthday are due to take place the following weekend when she has about 70 folk coming over to celebrate with her...
My day started with a lovely breakfast from Steve as well as these beautiful flowers...
Sarah arrived over mid morning with the children and I received some more flowers hand picked from my beautiful grandchildren and they had wrapped them in a little alfoil and presented them to me for Mother's Day. How precious..

The girls also gave me one of their beautiful candles that they have been making also...
We had thought of going on a picnic for lunch, but Dan had to work (from home) so Chloe thought she would like a girlie's shopping afternoon as she wanted to use some of her birthday money to buy herself a new dress to wear at her party. Steve very kindy offered to have the children for us so that it was truly a girls afternoon and us three set off for the shops..
We actually had a lot of fun. the girls both found things that they like, Chloe a dress and jacket to wear to her party, and Sarah a couple of tops. I found ear rings. It was a profitable afternoon all round for us...

We also got to get some photos together. I wanted a couple of nice serious photos, but the girls wouldn't play along. I guess though this is who they reall area. Very playful and I love them...
Whilst we only intended going shopping for a couple of hours, in the end we spent most of the afternoon at Carindale just enjoying being able to browse and check out any shop we wanted to... It was a real treat for Sarah to be able to do it without children in tow..
of course once we got home, Chloe had to model her buys for us all to check out...
Just after 4pm we calls from our beautiful family in Denmark wishing Chloe a 30th Birthday and also wishing me a Happy Mother's Day. It was great to be able to have a whole family chat with these guys and it made my day just that much more special. They also gave both Chloe and I the best present ever when informing us that they were looking into doing the paper work to allow them to all come home for a couple of years to live so that their little family can spend more time with us all and get to know their Aussie family and build relationships with them. We were all beyond excited, even though we realize that this process could take a couple of years...
Our beautiful Danish family... how we miss them... |
Theo always loves to chat to us when eating his breakfast.... It is the only time he stays still long enough in the one place..
After our call from Pete and Maria, Steve started the preparation for dinner. We had discussed going out for dinner, but both the girls wanted their Dad to cook their favourite. As it was Chloe's special birthday so got to decide what we were going to do and have for dinner, and Curried Prawns was her choice of meal.
Mind you buying the prawns and scallops is just as expensive as going out to a restaurant anyway for a meal. This worked out better for us all especially for Sarah who still wanted to get her children home at a reasonable hour as they had school the following morning...

Chloe's neighbour had also contributed to our meal. She had invited them over for her 30th birthday party and he was so thrilled that he had been included in her special evening that he went home and cooked her a special seafood paella for her actual birthday dinner...

This has been one of the best Mother's Days. It has been many many years since I have actually celebrated this special day with any of my children. I feel so priviledged, and blessed to be their mum. I scored the best when God gave us these delightful human beings.... So so blessed....
This Mother's Day would not be complete though without remembering my own beautiful Mum. It is days like this that I really miss her physical presence in our lives. I do find it hard when my kids are wishing me a happy Mother's Day, and Steve is able to wish his Mum a Happy Mother's Day and my lovely son in law's are on the phone wishing their own Mum's a Happy Mother's Day. I miss not being able to ring my Mum... I am the odd one out...
I feel sad that she never got to meet any of my beautiful grandchildren... She would have adored them. I do though feeling so incredibly blessed to have had the wonderful Mum that I did. She has been more than a Mum to me, she really was my best friend also and even 9 years down the track I still miss her, I miss not being able to just ring her and have our heart to heart chats. I miss her wisdom and love, I miss her wonderful sense of humour and her compassion, I miss her gentle spirit and her amazing faith.
The women in my life whom I love.... |
Mum you are the light that has lit our way, the role model of what a wonderful woman of God look like, I hope that I can be half the woman that you are and that I can love my own family with a love like you have shown us... I LOVE YOU MUM AND STILL MISS YOU...
