A VISIT TO CALOUNDRA FOR A PLAY...

The children love playgrounds, so when Sarah rang us and wanted us to duck down to Caloundra to KMart to pick up a few things there that she couldn't get in Brissie, we decided that it would be nice to take the children to the playground there after our visit to the shops...

They were perfect for us whilst we were shopping, no complaints, and no asking for things.  They had been prewarned that if they were good for us then we would go and have a play in a playground somewhere with them..

Once we were finished at the Shopping Centre, we headed down towards the beach where we saw a giant ferris wheel.  Right next to it was a great playground overlooking the creek.  Fortunately as we drove into the car park a car pulled out in front of us so we were meant to stop here....

Max headed straight to the big pirate ship in the playground.  They were quite excited and honestly didn't know where to go first....

Max loved the slides and spent quite a bit of time sliding down both the red and yellow slides....

At the bottom of the wooden structure that represented the lighthouse, there was a little shop set up and then the kids wanted us to play shops with them... We were buying fish and ships to have on the beach...This kept them quite amused for some considerable time...

From here it was on to all things spinning.  Max was reluctant to have a go whilst there were other kids on it, but once they left he joined Willow, first by trying to spin her around and then allowing her to spin him...

The trees in the playground there were very inviting and it wasn't long before they were both climbing up into them...

It was back to the playground and I had trouble keeping up with them as each child flittered to different areas of the playground.  It was a bit of a tug, as they both wanted you to be playing in their make believe games...

Whilst I was playing with the kids, Steve decided to go for a walk down to check out the beach.  It was almost sunset, so he came and grabbed us so that we could enjoy a beautiful sun set together as the sun set over the water...

The sunset was truly spectacular....
It reminded me a little of being on the west coast of Australia where the sun always sets over the water... Here we had the reflections on the water, but could still see cityscapes in the background.

It was dark by the time we were heading back to the car. We talked about grabbing some fish and chips and having them on the beach front, but both the kids wanted Macca's so as it was on our way home we stopped off and picked up Maccas for them, and then Subway for ourselves...

It was probably best to get them home to eat tea and into the bath as it would have made for a late night if we had stayed on the beach to eat our dinner....

It has been lovely to get out of the house and into the fresh air and sunshine.  It really has been a lovely afternoon and the kids play and get on so well together when they are outdoors and busy....
