DAY 2 - GIRLS WEEK - SUNDAY MARKETS AT CALOUNDRA...
The Sunday Markets are only held in the mornings so we figured that if we wanted to have a good look at them, we needed to get there pretty early, especially if we wanted to get a park..
We got up and had a cuppa and then headed off to Caloundra where we managed to get a park in the main street just before the market set up...
There were plenty of stalls and lots of folk about. The first stall we came to was a stall selling leather goods and Jannett found a belt she wanted and bought it straight away.
Found a new leather belt at the first stall we came too. |
This balloon stall was very popular... |
Just before we came across the Balloon Stall, Jannett came across a lady who was selling second hand Tupperware. I think the lady had previously been a Tupperware Consultant and was selling off all her stock. Jannett bought a few lunchboxes for her grandchildren. They were about a quarter of the price of a brand new one. Bargain.... she was very happy with her purchases...
There were lots of beautiful craft stalls. I could have been quite tempted with some of the lovely cheese platters and wine tables. These ones were particularly nice and reminded me of waves washing in along the shore line of the beach.
This would be an awesome gift for someone traveling... |
We came across a couple of lovely dresses stalls. We were all a little tempted as the outfits were great for traveling as you could roll them up without them creasing up. I really didn't need any more new clothes as I had just bought a couple of new dresses the previous week.
Whilst the girls were looking at some of the lovely outfits here I wandered across the road as I could see some pretty cool art work on one of the walls. I always love checking street art when we travel and of course this one was really bright and worthy of a few photoCalounds...
Caloundra Street Art... |
They had a couple of lovely plant stalls that were selling all sorts of lovely hanging plants along with lovely bunches of flowers...
These caught my eye.... |
Towards the end of this block I came across a lovely little Christmas Stall. This very much reminded me of some of the Christmas stalls we saw at the Christmas markets in Denmark when we were over there a couple of years ago. They also sold some pretty cool ear rings and I eventually wandered back to this stall to buy a pair.
There were several artists performing during the morning which all added to the lovely atmosphere of the markets.
Street Musician... played a lot of songs we enjoyed... |
As we came to the first found about in the street, it seemed that most of the food stalls, music, and family entertainment was set up in this area.... We quickly moved on through here into the next block...
This next block we came across a few stores that seemed to stock home wares and I came across a great little hat rack that would look good just inside our front door... This was my first purchase...
I loved these ducks... |
My first purchase... |
Whilst I was making my purchase, Jenny had spied a stall selling sunshirts. She was looking for one for her husband and was pretty impressed with what she saw...
Jenny bought a shirt for her husband... |
Whilst Jenny was finalizing her purchase and Jannett was looking at the shirts, I spied some art work across the road in a side alley, so I took off to explore it and see if there were any murals. Not so...
Extremely enjoyable drink... |
The girls were keen for their morning coffee. |
Jenny and I both ordered the Breaky Wrap for breakfast |
Jan ordered egg whites along with grilled tomatoes and mushrooms... |
Some amazing home decorating pieces could be found in this store.. |
We walked straight out of this shop and found a sweets stall. All the sweets were made at home from these guys... The set up was very eye appealing and if I wasn't trying to live healthy, I might have been sorely tempted.
By this stage both the other girls were looking for a toilet stop so I decided to wait for them in the main street whilst they went off in search of somewhere to relieve themselves. I found a nice park bench in the main street and waited there. It wasn't long before one of them came back to let me know that there looked to be a couple of pretty cool looking second hand shops and I wandered off with them to check them out...
Whilst the girls were looking in one of the Op Shops I found a hairdressers which was situated right next to the second hand shop and he had a bit of sale on a half head of foils. It has been years since I have had any colour or highlights in my hair, so decided to check it out and make an appointment for mid week to get my hair coloured...
It was just after lunch when we headed home. We stopped off at Currimundi at the Woolies shopping complex there to stock up on a few groceries that we needed before finally heading home...
We had a pretty chilled out afternoon just laying about the house reading and listening to music. Of course we enjoyed happy hour later in the afternoon with a nice bottle of wine along with more cheese and crackers....
I must admit I was also enjoying the lovely flowers that Steve had bought home for me before he left...
Beautiful flowers that grace my dining room table... |
It's been a lovely first day on the coast....
