DAY 5 - GIRLS WEEK - OP SHOPPING AND A SUNSET CRUISE...

This morning, the girls dived into my bottom cupboard under the stove to get something and found out that the only thing keeping the shelf up was the fact that it was resting on a yoghurt box... once they pulled the box out the whole shelf collapses leaving a terrible mess of pots and cooking trays.  They then decided to keep it out for me and get a whole lot of stuff ready to send to the op shop.  Now everything is organised in there and so much of it is now gone...

Big mess to clean up...

As I had a hair appointment at 10.30am down in Caloundra, the girls decided they would check out the Op Shops there whilst I went and had some foils put in my hair.  I was quite happy to leave them to it as the idea of getting pampered was so much more appealing...

We did though all check out an op shop on my way to the hairdressers.  How can you walk past one without going inside and checking it out.  I'm not that into Op Shopping as I am in the process of trying to declutter and downsize so I really was not interested in adding anything to my already cluttered house...

From here it was straight to the hairdressers for me whilst the girls continued to look for other Op Shops.  They did score quite a few bargains, especially Jan who loves to shop for her grandchildren.

As I was at the hairdressers for a good couple of hours, the girls ended up going down to the beach front for lunch...

It was mid afternoon by the time we got home.  We decided to have a bit of a rest as we had to be out again around 4.30pm as we were going on a sunset cruise on the Mooloolah River and we needed to be there half an hour earlier than the cruise time.  I had booked the cruise through and online booking service called "Book Me" and it was reduced to $28 which I didn't think was too bad for an hour and a half cruise along the river and canals.

There were quite a few on our afternoon cruise and we got underway at 5pm on the dot...

Ready for our afternoon sunset cruise..

The cruise picked us up from the Wharf at Mooloolaba.  Drink orders were taken and then we were served with our drinks of choice before we headed off down towards the mouth of the river.  Once at the mouth of the river, we enjoyed some sensational scenic views looking back towards Mooloolabah and then up the coast towards Noosa and the headlands.  Our skipper was entertaining as he gave us some great commentary about the river and the fishing industry around this area of the coast...

Alovely glass of Brown Brothers Moscato Rose.

As we made our way back up the river, we made a stop at the local Mooloolaba fish market to pick up our meals that were ordered when we first boarded our cruise.  We had ordered fresh fish - the catch of the day with chips for our meal.

Our river cruise boat...

Some ordered big seafood platters but they were huge and way to big for us to share... We would never have got through it all.    The fish was cooked perfectly and just melted in your mouth.  As it was the meal we ordered was large and I wasn't able to get through it all...
Our meal

Once we had picked up our meal and were enjoying it back on the boat it was time to continue our cruise down through the bottom section of the Mooloolah River, Harbour and Canals.

One of the first homes and cruise boats we checked out was the "Croc One" one of the Irwin's boats that much of their research is done from and it was moored outside their beach home on the canals...

Unfortunately we didn't get the perfect sunset tonight as it has been a pretty cloudy day,  We did however see some of the clouds were tinged with the setting sun.  If we want to see a really good sunset though, we need to do this one again...

It was actually quite dark as we cruised the canals.  It actually was quite pretty to see the houses all lit up with their beautiful lights..

It was going on for 8pm by the time we arrived home.  We decided tonight to indulge in a "blast from the past".  During our chats through the week, we all discovered that our first introduction to wine as young adults was to the"Mateus Rose" and we had all thought it was pretty good..

We had picked up a bottle when we went to Dan Murphy the previous evening and tonight we christened it.  We were very disappointed.  Obviously our tastes have vastly improved since our early 20's.  It was nothing like we remembered it at all.

A blast from the past....

We also indulged in some more of the yummy chocolates we had bought the previous afternoon up in Maleny..

It's been another lovely day on the coast... Tomorrow my good friend Vicki is coming in for a visit and we are off to check out "The Banana Bender's Pub...
