HAIRCUTS AND LUNCH OUT...

On our last day with Charlie and Karen, we decided to head into Maroochydore for haircuts.  Steve desperately needed one, and Karen was keen to have a  haircut as well as he had her daughter's baby shower the following day and wanted to tidy up for that...

The boys wanted to head down to the Quintex Boat showrooms in Caloundra to take a few measurements before heading back to Kings to check on a few things for their boat whilst Karen and I headed down to the Kawana Shopping Centre to pick up some water bottles from Aldi.  They were on special and were really good thermal ones, which keep your fluids hot or cold for well over 24 hours.  They were also miles cheaper than any other store we had seen them in.

After picking them up, we headed to a little coffee show where we enjoyed morning tea..

Then it was time to head down to Maroochydore to meet the guys at Male Mane - the hairdressers...

My Dad had been going to Male Mane Hairdressers in Ocean Street for many many years.  They are a walk in off the street salon, specializing in hair cuts only and are very reasonably priced, so we have been going there for years when ever we visit the coast.   Male cuts are $15 and ladies cuts are $25... Can't get them much cheaper than that, and there probably has only ever been once out of the numerous times I go that I wasn't 100% happy with the cut,  the rest of the time, they have done an excellent job...

It was lunch time by the time we had finished getting our hair cut so decided to head across the road to one of the eateries before Charlie and Karen headed off to Brisbane..

A couple of the stylist recommended "Sneaky Baron"  for pretty awesome burgers, so we decided to head there...

Having lunch at the "Sneaky Baron" - Ocean Street, Maroochydore..

The restaurant was pretty busy which is always a good sign - that usually means the food is pretty good.  They had a pretty extensive menu but they were mainly different sorts of burgers.  Steve and I decided to share as there is no way, I could eat a whole burger myself.  Usually burgers at places like this are HUGE and these ones certainly were.

Steve and I chose their "Open Steak Sandwich"which consisted of a 200gm rump steak, caramelised onions, blue cheese, rocket and aioli on Turkish bread and served with sweet potato chips.  Wasn't the cheapest burger at $19.00 but did taste delicious and definitely fed the both of us, so the price wasn't too bad when you divided it in half...

Karen opted for the "Sneaky Snitz" which was a house crumbed chicken breast, with cheddar cheese, American Slaw, lettuce, aioli and tangy tomato relish also served with chips.  It was slightly cheaper at $17 but again it was an awfully big serve.

Charlie went for the daddy or all burgers and ordered the  "I'm a Big Deal" Burger.  It wasn't cheap at $28 but it was MASSIVE.  In fact, one look at it made my stomach turn.  It looked so greasy and so unhealthy and there was no way he was going to finish it...

It was a double smashed wagyu beef patty, double maple bacon, smoked brisket, triple American cheese, onion ring stack, sitting on a bed of Mac and 3 cheeses also with Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce and no chips...

Massive Burger and didn't look one bit healthy..

He managed most of it except for the bun top and most of the Mac Cheese.

In the end Steve helped him clean up the Mac Cheese.

It's been a great week with these guys, and they left us around 2.30pm to head to Brissy to catch up with their family.

We decided to drop in and pay a visit with my good friend Barb and her husband John whilst we were in Maroochydore as we hadn't seen them all week.  They had been sticking pretty close to home with the Covid numbers rapidly climbing, they really weren't wanting to catch it...

Whilst we were at their place, we got a call from our good friends Craig and Sharon to see if it would be OK for them to come and spend a few days with us up at the coast.  They had planned to leave in an hour or so and head up tonight...  Good thing that I had washed all the sheets that morning before we headed out..

We left John and Barb's just after 4pm to head home and we only really had enough time to get the beds made and get some dinner organised before our next lot of visitors arrived...
