WE GET TO WATCH MAX PLAY BASKETBALL..

Our grandson Max has started playing Basketball this year and he absolutely LOVES it.  He was keen for us to come to his second game...

The kids are so cute to watch.  Apparently, at his first game he would just run with the ball, this week, he actually managed to dribble it down the court.  There was still some traveling but he is taking on board what his coach is instructing him to do...

The funny thing though, even though is Poppy has been a Basketball coach for many many years, he is only really interested in what his coach has to say.  Apparently, she is the only person that knows EVERYTHING about basketball.

Fortunately for Sarah,  their training sessions are the 15 minutes before each game so she doesn't have to take him out earlier in the week for training.

With their coach learning to dribble
Their coach spent most of their training session teaching the boys how to dribble their ball up and down the court.  It is amazing to see how quickly these littlies pick up the skills.  They were super cute to watch..
Max practicing his dribbling...

Then they were practicing throwing the ball to each other and bouncing the ball to each other.  They were all super keen..

They spent about twenty minutes practicing their skills before the game started.  They were hilarious to watch once the game started.. They were all super excited and worked that ball up and down the court.  I love that it is mostly about enjoying the game and it is not taken too seriously.  They don't keep a score at all.  I was super impressed that between the two teams, they were still managing to shoot hoops and get the ball in.  The nice part about it all is that both teams were pretty convinced that they had won the game and no one let them know otherwise..

Starting to use hi arms to defend...

Shooting a goal..
We were super proud of Max.  He shot a few hoops, and although he didn't get the ball in, it hit the hoop each time, so it is only a matter of practice and time and he will be shooting them.  He is quite good at shooting goals at home but then he has time to set himself up before he shoots the ball, where in the game he is doing it on the run...

Practicing his dribbling...

And he shoots another goal...

And we are going for another goal...

He loves the game and it always ends way too quickly for him.  He always wants to stay and watch another game, but unfortunately, Willow's gymnastics backs onto Max's Basketball game so Saturday mornings have become very busy for Sarah...
