DAY 2 CARAVANING AT AGNES WATERS WITH THE BAPTIST TAB CARAVANING GROUP...

Earlier in the year we were invited along with our good friends Ian and Kathy to go caravaning with a group of retirees from the Baptist Tab in Rocky.  We probably knew half of the campers going anyway so it was a great opportunity to get to know some new folk and spend time with folk who where like minded and enjoyed getting out and exploring this big beautiful country we live in.

We headed back to Rocky a few days early to pack the van and get ready for our big adventure with them.  We weren't the only ring ins as there were another couple from Brissie who were friends with one of the couples from the Tab.  Funny thing is, it turned out to be an old boyfriend of mine, someone I hadn't see in almost 40 years.  I didn't find out until we were already there and at first I wandered whether it might be a bit awkward but in the end, we had a chat and the week was great.  His wife was lovely and they also had three children, one boy and two girls so we did have quite a bit in command.

Most of us were there camping in caravans, but there were also folk in cabins.

Heading to 1770 Getaway for Lunch...

Our outing for our first full day there was lunch out at the 1770 Getaway.  They set up up our in the garden and it was lovely.  Food was excellent also.

Sharyn had obviously reserved everything before hand as they had a table all set up for us and the service was swift.  We enjoyed our meals... and definitely enjoyed the company...

Our lunch

Absolutely delicious

Sweet Potato chips to die for...

Our lunch at 1770 Getaway

After lunch we were pretty much free to do as we wished.  Most  of us had a wander around the gardens at the 1770 Getaway.  They are beautiful with a lagoon and walk ways through almost a rainforest setting...

After wandering through the gardens we headed back towards the lagoon where our cars were parked in the carpark there and we spied this butcher bird up on a tree branch above us.  He definitely wasn't afraid of us and we were able to get quite close to him and he still didn't move....

We took a few minutes to enjoy the lagoon and the beautiful flowering plants around it before heading back to our vans... Ian and Kathy were our drivers today....

The cafe overlooks the lagoon...
beautiful flowering pentice

We had a pretty quite afternoon, some opted to have a nanny nap whilst a few of us gathered under our big tarp to play games.  We did spare this big goanna who would wander around our campsite on a pretty regular basis...

We had a couple of big goannas that would visit our campsite...

Mid afternoon Sharyn let us all know that we were going to head down towards the Captain Cook Lookout to view a wonderful Agnes Water sunset over the water.  We packed some nibblies and took our chairs down with us....

The two Sharyns...

All their to view the amazing sunset...

The sunsets here are pretty amazing and we enjoyed a rather special one tonight....

Couldn't ask for a better day.... Perfect weather, perfect company...   and the  perfect way to end a wonderful day...
