DAY 3 CARAVANING AT AGNES WATERS WITH THE BAPTIST TAB CARAVANING GROUP...
Another lovely day in Paradise. The plan this morning was to check out the little museum at Agnes Waters. Not everyone came. Some had been before, but we were keen as when we had been here the previous year, the Museum had been closed due to COVID...
The museum is divided into two sections... the first section is full of wonderful artifacts and amazing documents of the history of Agnes Waters and 1770. You need quite a bit of time to soak up the great information on Cook and key members of his expedition in 1770. The museum contains so much history of the first people before the passing stop by the British Endeavor crew too. The reading room has so much to offer, but to fully appreciate it all you would need quite a bit of time to fully absorb all that is on offer here..
There was so much history of the European exploration and settling in Australia, but there was also lots of information about geology, indigenous art and history, stamps, household items, clothing, needlework, all sorts of items largely collected by one man who has a display section outlining his life and how this magnificent collection came to be. There was also the more recent history of Agnes Water near the entrance/exit displaying a memorial and information about the tragic loss of the fishing vessel Dianne in 2017, a sad reminder of the many lives lost in the waters around Australia.
In the far room, there was an Aussie section which had so many objects and items from our past, including some electric curlers just like the ones I had as a teenager. There was a broad selection of sports, 1900 cricket bat, an ANZAC section and many household items...
The girls at the museum. |
A blast from the past.... |
These were very familiar with all of us girls, At one stage or another, we all owned some of these.

I learnt to type on one of these... |

Sharyn ready to start the ironing... |
This iron really was a blast from the past as this was the iron that both my grandmother and Mum used when i was really young. I even had a very small iron like this and I used to help my mum with the ironing by ironing the handkerchiefs for her...
Preparing the evening meal... |
We would have spent a good two hours at the Museum. Others decided to do the Discovery Trail walk whilst we were in the Museum but we had already done that last year when we visited. We would have loved to do it again also, but as the museum had been closed on our last visit thought it would be good to check it out instead...
The grevilleas were all out in bloom |
It was well and truly lunch time by the time we had visited checking at the Museum. Ian and Kathy had come in our car with us today, so we decided to head back to our van for a light lunch. We were heading out to the Tavern for dinner tonight so we only wanted something light...
Our afternoon was spent napping and again socializing and playing cards in the tarp that was set up behind our van.
Sharyn K had booked a table at the Agnes Water's Tavern for us all for dinner tonight... We were all in for going as we had previously been there a couple of times when we were last camping here and we knew the food was good. It was a great way for us all to get together and enjoy a meal with great company.
The meals were delicious and a good size. From past experience, Steve and I knew that we were better off sharing a meal together as there is no way I could have eaten a meal this big. By sharing it also meant that we could indulge in a desert together also.
