DAY 40 - DENMARK ADVENTURE - DRIVE TO LISTA FYR. - Thursday 2nd June 2022...

More to come..

Day 40 saw Steve and I take off on a drive to explore some more of Southern Norway. Pete and Maria decided to have the morning at home to give the boys a bit of down time.

Today we decided to head west to explore the town and beach of Lyngdal. This is a lovely seaside resort and the beaches here were quite long still framed though by the ever present rocky hills and mountains. We went for a walk along the beach before heading off to explore the next little village on our way out t check out the Lista Fyr. Lista Lighthouse is a coastal lighthouse located at the western side of the Lista peninsula, a short distance northwest of the village of Vestbygd. The 34-metre (112 ft) tall unpainted granite tower was first lit in 1836, but it was rebuilt in 1853. The light sits at an elevation of 39.5 metres (130 ft) and it emits a white flash of light every four seconds. The 1,026,000-candela light can be seen in all directions for up to 17.5 nautical miles (32.4 km). In 2003, the station was automated and the buildings were turned over to Vest-Agder county. The site is now used as a museum that is open daily during the summer months. We had planned to do a little more exploring but ran out of time, so just decided to drive home via a different route to check out a bit more of the stunning scenery in Norway. Meanwhile Pete and Maria decided to go and explore Gilefossen Waterfall and have a swim there in the afternoon. We are still amazed at the wonderful spring flowers that are growing prolific everywhere we seem to go… The last photo was taken around midnight. At this time of year, the sky is never completely dark. It fact, the sun is not going down till well after 10.30pm at night and it is up again just after 3am. There is always light in the sky though. We have really been enjoying the long summer days…
