DAY 9 CARAVANING AT AGNES WATERS WITH THE BAPTIST TAB CARAVANING GROUP... 2022...

It was a pretty low key day for us today.  Along with Ian and Kathy we had decided to remain in Agnes Water for the day.  We had washing to catch up on and as we had pretty much been going all week it was nice to stop and just relax.  We also had some planning we wanted to catch up on for our big trip overseas next year...

Meanwhile the Dendles, Suess's and Sharyn all headed into Bundy to meet up with the Ganter's for morning tea. The Ganter's were pastors at the Baptist Tab in the past and were still very much loved by folk in Rocky.

They were set to meet them at the North Bundaberg Botanical Gardens.  These gardens are rather special to me as my Dad was quite instumental in them being built and developed when he was Mayor of Bundaberg.

Appartently the train was running through the gardens when they were there so they got to enjoy a scenic trip around the gardens on the old steam train...

After their train trip they check out Bert Hinkler's House which was a story in itself.  The house travelled to Bundaberg brick by brick back in the early 1980's whilst my Dad was Mayor or the city...

The famous Bundaberg aviator, Bert Hinkler, built the house in Southhampton, England in 1925 and named it Mon Repos in honour of his hometown, and the beach that fuelled his love of flight.

When a group of Hinkler enthusiasts heard it was set to be demolished, they banded together to relocate it, brick by brick, and it was eventually opened in the Bundaberg Botanic Gardens in June 1984.

After checking out Bert Hinkler's home, they then headed to the Hinkler Aviation Museum which is also situated in the Botanical Gardens.

Not sure that I would like to have Geoff as my pilot...

Whilst Kathy and I tackled all the washing this morning, Ian and Steve decided to head back down to Town of 1770 to do a spot of fishing.  They actually had a good morning and caught a couple of small fish.
The water was so clear...

After Kathy and I had finished our housework and enjoyed a cuppa together, we set about looking at things we could do in England when we arrived...

We had just found out before coming to Agnes, that our planned trip to Israel and Jordan was definitely going to go ahead now in May 2023, rather than November 2022.  This was great news as we actually were given a date this time, so planning began in earnest.

Ian and Kathy had already committed to do a Mediterranean cruise with their middle daughter and her family at the end of June, and with our Israeli trip now happening for the month of May, it seemed pretty pointless that they would fly back to Australia for 3-4 weeks before flying back to Europe again, so we decided to extend our trip and plan a visit to England and then they would join us in Denmark for 10 days before joining their family in Paris....

The boys joined us in the afternoon as we planned away.  It was quite a relaxing afternoon and we were pleased that we had just stopped for the day...

The others didn't arrive home until almost dinner time.  It was a really big day for them, and although they had a wonderful time, we are so pleased that we decided to stay behind...

Only one more day in this little piece of paradise before this little holiday is over...
