Card Making Day
Usually when I scrapbook, I take up the whole dining room table, so it was a bit of a challenge to sit at the tinest dining room table in our caravan ( it was about an eighth of the size of our table at home) and scrapbook with a couple of girlfriends and make these cards. It was a stinking hot day without a breath of air, and the sandflies were horrendous, so we holed up in the van with the air conditioning on and made cards all day. They are all pretty similar but we had a great day together.
Here are my efforts for the day.
We had a girls day out shopping too whilst we were camping, and went into Gladstone, where we checked out the local scrapbooking shop, Lincraft, and the shopping centres. We had lunch at MacDonalds in Gladstone, and I was rather impressed by a couple of the posters on the walls there. Had to write down the quotes, so am sharing them here so that I have a permanent copy.
The first one was entitled
The Essence of Leadership
A true leader has the confidence to stand alone, the courage to make tough decisions and the compassion to listen to the needs of others. He does not set out to be a leader, but becomes one by the quality of his actions and ntegrity of his intent. In the end, leaders are much like Eagles, they don't flock, you find them one at a time.
The Essence of Family
The Family is a harbour of safety in an ocean of change. It is an association established in nature and guided by enduring principles of fellowship. It is where we first learn our potential and face our responsibilities. In this kinship we find the strength to swim together, and eventually the courage to swim alone.
and finally
The Essence of Success
Successful is the person who has lived well, laughed often and loved much, who has gained the respect of children, who leaves the world better than they found it. Who has never lacked appreciation for the Earth's beauty, who never fails to look for the best in others or gives the best of themselves.
I also came accross this quote today that I thought was worth sharing also.
A smile is a light on your face that lets people know your heart is home. (Anonymous)
I have much to be thankful for and grateful for this week.
1. Holidays.
2. The provision of our caravan and the great time we had camping in it.
3. Bargains - got some good ones whilst we were away and then again today,
4. Tooth paste and tooth brushes- can't imagine a world without it.
5. Great service at church this morning - the enthausiasm of youth and the challenge of being a light and salt unto the world.
6. Washing machines - especially when you have Mt Washmore to get through.
7. Air conditioning - it has been super hot here the last couple of days.
8. That I have lost a few extra kilo's over the last few weeks without trying too hard.
9. Girlfriends.
10. Coke Zero, and cups of tea - have been enjoying plenty of both these last couple of weeks.
