Moruya to Eden to Lakes Entrance
Just a quick catch up this morning - more tonight. Have been so busy it is hard trying to keep up with the journey so far.
We left Moruya last Friday. The weather was not good, it rained pretty much our whole journey to Eden. We did the tourist route around the coast line again, but it made me so thankful that we had eperience sunlight the day before and saw the South Coast in all its splendour and glory, as today it was grey and wild.
BEGA
We decided to head inland and visit the town of Bega ( famous for its cheese), the country side coming into Bega was just beautiful, lots of pastoral land, beautiful and green, and I think the rain and overcast skies just made it look even prettier. Bega is a very pretty little town, lots of lovely trees, and the main street is really pretty.
We drove through town and found the Bega Cheese Factory so made a little detour to check it out. They are well set up for tourists with parks large enough for cars and Caravans. Since it was so darn wet and cold, we ended up have a hot pie for a late lunch. Got to sample a lot of the cheeses too.
EDEN
We arrived in Eden late Friday afternoon. The weather was wet and it wasn't long after we set up that the winds sprung up so we had to go out in the cold and wet to lower our awning as it was just howling. We stayed at a really lovely Caravan Park and there was obviously a car meet on as there were heaps of this little morris minors at the park. Had to take some photos of course.
The sun had come out the next morning, but it was very windy and very cold so we decided to head off to Lakes Entrance in the hope that if we travelled on a bad day we would be there if the weather got better. Before leaving though we went for a drive through Eden, such a pretty place, Their cemetery was right on the beach, what a lovely final resting place.
We had a head wind all the way so we knew that fuel consumpstion would not be good today.
CANN RIVER
We stopped at Cann River for lunch, and had a lovely lunch at this little Bakery. This is also where we saw this cool caravan with an "Adventure before Dementia" sign on the back. Of course I had to photograph it.
The Bakehouse we had lunch at also had a special lolly sections and had all these cool Lolly houses there. They looked like gorgeous little dolls houses. It was bitterly cold at Cann River, so we didn't hang around too long, we wanted to get back into our nice warm car.
LAKES ENTRANCE
We arrived at Lakes Entrance in the middle of the afternoon and found this really lovely little caravan park. Small, but very neat and tidy and we settled in there before heading off to go pick up some groceries.
Lakes Entrance is a really pretty little spot, no where near as big as I thought it would be. On the Sunday we had a pretty chilled out day, did some washing and hung around inside as it was so darn cold and windy. Mid afternoon we went for a drive and took the camera.
Will share the other photos of the Lakes Entrance area later today. We are in Melbourne today and are heading off to Melbourne Zoo.
