ANOTHER BIRTHDAY ROLLS AROUND....

 Another Birthday come and gone....

It was a bit different this year,  we were busy in the morning, no real celebrations as I rushed to get my swim in before heading to Brisbane.  I had no real present for Steve as there are a couple of things he really wants but I need for him to do the research so that it is exactly what he wants rather than just the wrong thing so that I have a gift for him..

Normally we celebrate his birthday back home as it is usually his first week back at work... Not this year, no longer do we have to celebrate our birthdays without family unless we choose to do that....

We decided that since we were on the Sunshine Coast that we would head down to Brisbane so that we could celebrate his birthday with our kids...  In all honestly at this stage in our lives, the most precious gift to us is family time, so this made his birthday special..

We left the Sunshine Coast a little after 2.30pm, fuelling up out at Sippy Downs as fuel was still only 116.9cpl rather than the 157.9cpl elsewhere on the coast...  We also knew that we would be also paying the dearer price in Bris.

We arrived at Chloe's sometime after 4pm which game us a couple of hours to get ready before we were due at the Carina Leagues Club where we were meeting up with our good friends Ian and Kathy, and also Colin, Sarah and the children...

When we arrived at Chloe's her beautiful little puppy Mia was super excited to see us and came bounding over to greet us at the door...

Ian & Kathy, and Sarah and the children were already at the Leagues Club when we arrived...

We found a table to seat us all, but unfortunately it was near the live music and whilst the music was good, it was a little loud which made it quite difficult to have a decent conversation at times...

The meal selection was reasonable, and prices were between $18 and $28 per meal.  Steve opted for seafood, Kathy and I opted for Roast Beef and vegetables, Dan had a chicken parmi, and the rest of them order lamb shank meals...

Steve's meal

The children enjoyed, burgers and hot dogs...

It is wonderful to be able to celebrate with family and good friends, and I am sure this has to be one of the real perks of retirement.... having the freedom to travel and visit when it suits us and not when work dictates the times...

There was lots of laughter and being together is always a lot of fun...

So good to have our good friends Ian and Kathy join us also for the evening...

Chloe had organised a birthday cake so once we had all finished our meal, we headed back to Dan and Chloe's for the birthday cake and Desert.  Colin had been unable to join us for dinner as he was held up at work with an emergency, but he was able to join us back at Dan and Chloe's..

When we arrived back at Chloe's, Steve was met by this gorgeous little creature..

She was very much in the thick of it all.  She is such a beautifully social-able little puppy and loves being around people...

Chloe had organised a lovely black forest torte birthday cake (Steve's favourite) and that then became our desert..

It has been so good to celebrate it all together with family.  Maybe this will become our new tradition... Letting the kids have the holiday house at the beach over Christmas and then we come as school goes back ( it is less busy on the coast then) and then we can remain and stick around and enjoy birthdays with family...

I have been so blessed to have done life for the last 47 years with this wonderful man...  Sure life isn't always rosy, sure we have our differences, but that wouldn't be life if there weren't good times, hard times, sad times and happy times, but Steve, you have been my rock, my support, my best friend and I feel so incredibly grateful for all that you have done and been for not only me but also our gorgeous kids.  You are so deserving of this celebration of your life with those that you hold dearest to you... Just wish that the rest of our family could have been here to celebrate with us...

Love you to the moon and back and may we celebrate many more birthdays together, and have many many more adventures together...
