It was all about the food and the shopping

I have just spent five amazing days with some girlfriends holidaying on the Gold Coast. We have eaten, we have shopped, we have laughed and laughed, we have caught up with family. It has gone way too quickly and we have probably spent way too much money shopping, but we could turn around and do it all again in a heartbeat.

My friend Jannett's daughters live and work on the Gold Coast. At the moment they are touring around the USA, so when Jannett suggested that we might like to go spend a few days at their place, we jumped at the chance.

My daughter Sarah picked us up at Brisbane Airport. My kids then took us out for Breakfast in Wooloongabba at one of the lovely little street cafes. We had a great meal, and then hit the shops around there.

We came accross this rather bizarre shoe shop. Never quite seen a shoe shop like it, and I'm not sure who would wear a lot of the shoes that were sold there, but I can tell you we all thought they were interesting enough to photograph.
The silver pair Sarah has is like a spring and it really does spring when you touch it. Jannett found blue shoes.... of course anything blue is like a magnet to Jannett. I think the thing that fascinated us most were the most outlandish men's shoes they had there.
I just could not imagine any one wearing them.
We also went shopping in Wooloongabba and found this really chic little boutique. Sarah bought a couple of really gorgeous little skirts there and we all bought jewellery. Also thinking this is the stort of store that Chloe would like so will definately have to take her there when she comes down this weekend.
Jan also found this cute fascinator - of course she just had to get it. She has a couple of race days coming up so I am sure she will put it to good use.

On Sunday we went a couple of hours at these markets.
This was definately a good place to visit, and we all shopped, sunnies, jewellery, clothes, towels, books, lace and ribbon, fruit and vegies, you name it we came home with it. We were probably there for at least five hours. Also made us late for our afternoon tea date at Jannett's neice Laura's place.
We also got to check out Jannett's nephew's new boat. What a beauty. I am sure that Steve would be green with envy. It had just come home from its maiden voyage as we got there.
We also got to have dinner down with Jannett's family. Her sister and husband had just returned from a six weeks fishing trip to the Northern Territory and we had a wonderful fee of freshly caught barramundi. My goodness didn't it taste good.
it was cooked out over the "PIG" their outdoor camping cooking drum. I was quite fascinated with this and took heaps of photos so I could share them with Steve.

After our feed of fish on Sunday night we decided to go down and visit the trawellers at the spit on Monday and get a fresh feed of prawns for dinner that night. We certainly ate well whilst we were away
In fact it felt like our holiday was all about food and shopping.

Monday night Jannett introduced us to Max Brenners. My goodness wasn't that a treat. It was so rich. We shared the waffles between us.
Think this is one place I need to treat my husband too, I am sure he would LOVE it since he really is a chocoholic.
Tuesday we hit Harbour Town and shopped until we dropped.
Our boot was so full of all the bargains we bought that we could hardly close it. Haven't enjoyed a shop like this for years. I bought $120 shoes for $21, and $90 shoes for $17, not to name all the skirts and tops and jewellery we bought. It was so much fun.

Of course we had to photograph some of our shopping.
Our time away ended way too quickly. Wednesday saw us, packing our bags,

Tidy up and clean up at home, before dropping into the local shopping centre for some ribbon and thank you cards. Jannett's sister picked us up just before lunch and we headed into the DFO near the airport for our final shop. I missed this one as my younger sister picked me up from here and we headed up to the Sunshine Coast to spend a few days with my folks.

I tried up loading this post at the end of last week, but blogger didn't like me and wouldn't upload my photos. Then my computer died and I only managed to reboot it this morning. Have more to post of the past few days in Brissie but they will have to wait for a day or two.

So blessed to have lovely girlfriends. We really did have a couple of wonderful days away together.
