THERMOMIX FUN

Today we had some fun in the kitchen.  This very good friend of mine bought one last Christmas... She loved it so much that in March this year she decided to become a consultant.  And in September she was topped the Australian sales for the Month.  So proud of her.  But then when you love something and it becomes a very big part of your everyday life you want to share the good news.  Has almost convinced me that I could even invest in one at my age.

The lovely Bek
I have known Bek since she was two.... In fact I used to babysit her quite a bit as her mum and I are good friends.  Today I had fun with her two year old daugher, although I did tell her it made me feel quite old considering I had know her since she was Lucy's age.

Anyway back to the Thermomix.  It does have a hefty price tag and I have friends with one, but just spending this time with Bek today sold me more on the nutritional benefits of owning one.    Really does help to do away with the vast amounts of preservatives we have in our diets.

This is the wonder machine.
The wonder machine...
Bek was her for about two hours and in that time we made a six courses, all made from scratch and cooked in that time.

We started off with nibbles and and this lovely garlic, and chives dip.   It got devoured pretty quickly...
Very moreish... and pretty much cleaned up by us in the first 15 minutes.
Next we made Sorbet and this was probably my favourite.  It was delicious and took all of about five mintues to make.
Three mixed berry sorbet
Yum  had it for lunch and dinner again tonight.
I can see that if I had one of these wonder machines we would have sorbet in our freezer all the time,.  I still cannot get over how incredibly quick and easy it was to make and how healthy it really is as there is very little sweetener in it,

After we tasted the sorbet, Bek decided to show us how she makes butter.  She hasn't bought any store butter since she bought her  Thermomix 12 months ago.  In fact she was telling us that she now waits until the cream is on special and buys up on it.  So cheap to make your own butter, and you can even keep the buttermilk so that you can make scones or cookes ( all of which can be made in the wonder machine).
Homemade butter and Beetroot, Apple, Carrot & Orange Salad.
After the butter, we made this really lovely, beetroot, apple, and carrot salad with orange and mint dressing.  It was so refreshing.

Bek with the Beetroot, Apple, Carrot  Orange Salad.
Then Bek made these amazing breadrolls from scratch.  Who needs a breadmaker when you have this wonder machine.
Fresh baked breadrolls straight from the oven.
The dough only took a couple of minutes to make, and then the machine kneaded it for a couple of minutes.   We set it aside for about ten minutes and then put it in the oven for 25 minutes and this is the result.
From the breadrolls, we then made this absolutely delicious mushroom risotto.  It tasted divine... the flavours were gorgeous.  Bek showed us how she uses her vegetables that were just about past their used by date to make stock powder and she keeps this in an airtight container in her fridge for up to a couple of months.   There is absolutely no wastage with the Thermomix, and it is all so quick to use.
Mushroom Risotto
This was delicious and we had it again for dinner tonight.  In fact we had made that much at lunch time that we didn't have to worry about dinner tonight at all and there is still enough left over to last us the next couple of days.

Finally she finished off making the most beautiful lemon egg custard from scratch. and it melted in your mouth.  I cleaned the rest of it up for dinner tonight.  Forgot to take a photo of it though.

Just can't beleive how quick it is to use and how easy it is to clean.  In saying that too, you don't have to measure anything because it measures it for you as you tip it in.  Such a time saver.

Anyway it was a fun day, and we all had a great time together.   Who knows, down the track she might eventually convince me that I can't do without one.
