A TRIP BACK TO BUNDY.....

Well it has been over two months now since the devastating floods in Bundy....
We had our first trip back there a week ago, and what a shock...
North Bundaberg still looks very much like a war zone....
most of the homes are still empty...
there are houses that have been washed away
and others that have completely collapsed.
There is still a lot of debris laying around the river area,
It is so sad to see...
Last weekend we went for a drive around North Bundaberg and found the devastation almost unbelievable.
Steve and I were only talking about it in the car this evening....
Nothing is secure...
We can hoard up treasures here on this earth and they can be gone in an instant...
The only thing of any lasting value is the relationships that we have with God, family and friends, and it is an important lesson for me particularly to invest in those things that are real,  not accumulating a heap of possessions.

We drove down Gavin Street,  it was where my Dad had his workshop.... the house two doors down from his workshop, had just collapsed into a sinkhole... unbelievable...
This weekend it was gone.... completely bulldozed and taken away and all that is there now is a empty block of land.... Everything some one owns,  just gone...
This is the house accross the road...
It has collapsed into a sink hole too....

This home has sunk right into a sinkhole
The house next door has the ground washed away from it also.... The carport has collapsed.
The debris laying around
The house has sunk.... walls are collapsing
How devastating for the owners.....
We haven't had a chance to catch up with Steve's family since the floods, so we wanted to drop in and spend some time with them as it has been a very stressful time for them all.
To add to that, Steve's Dad has spent some time in hospital and is unable to do too much at the moment so it was good to go home and get a few jobs done for them also....
One of the jobs Steve did was dig up all the gardens for his Dad, and get it ready for planting...
Introduction to the Rotary digger
Not as easy as it looks...
In fact it was a lot of hard work.... still better than using a gardening fork though...
Getting some instruction....
Back view
Working hard
Push push push
The only way to do this....
Dropping it into the ground...
Ploughing deep
Around the corner...
Nearly done...
We managed to get a few other jobs done in the garden too, and a little work done to the roof... Unfortunately we couldn't finish that job because the rain came...
Just means we will have to spend another weekend down there....
We left there last Sunday to head down to pay a visit to my Dad and then into Brissie to have some Willow time...

On the whole it has been a good holiday...
Relaxing....
Back to work tomorrow....
Will be back with an update on Willow and our time with her in Brissie in the next day or two...
