EASTER AT TANNUM 2013

It seems I've had a bit of a blogging break of late.   It's been a busy year and I'm in the process of making some big changes so I really don't have the opportunity to be on here as often as I used to be.  I still hope to keep the place alive,  but probably not be as frequent a blogger as I used to be...
We have just spent five relaxing days at Tannum Sands over Easter.  It was a lovely refreshing and relaxing time, and I only realized on the last day that I had not even take the camera out of it's case.

I went for lovely long walks along the ocean front each day were were there and just loved it.  Loved the whole place.  So close to home and yet far enough away to make it a good break...  Steve managed to go fishing each day and was rewarded with enough fish to have a good  feed each day.   There were a few families that went with us.  Life was good, we socialised, played games, slept, read, went out for coffee.  On the whole though, our time was our own... When we didn't feel like socialising, we had our van to hibernate in, and there was always some one around to spend time with when we did feel like getting out.  We have been holidaying at Tannum most Easters now for 10 years.  We missed it last year, as Mum had just passed away and we were needed on the Sunshine Coast.  We missed it.  It is a great time of year to have a good break.

Anyway some photos from our last day at Tannum.  It really is a very lovely spot to spend a week camping out.  Very pretty, right on the water,  beautiful parklands around,  beach and creek accross the road....  The caravan park is well equipped and friendly.  They have a pool, BBQ areas, tennis courts, and it is generally a lovely setting to camp in.

Home away from home for five days.....
A few sandflies about..... got to spray up....
This is called minimal camping.... no annex this time...
On our last afternoon, we went for a lovely walk along the ocean front.  Steve had just filleted a big bag of fish and wanted to wash out his fishing bucket.... so it came along with us for the walk....

Down to the creek to rinse his bucket out.
Grabbed a bit of salt water to cook the crab whilst he was at it.
Heading back up off the beach.
The views from along here are just beautiful.... such a peaceful area....

Some of the wooden sculptures in the parkland.
Heading down onto the beach
My afternoon walk...
It was a beautiful area to walk along....
The parkland here is well kept and well looked after.  They have also sorts of sculptures throughout the park.

Art work throughout the park.... all tells it's own story.

Just accross the road from here were a set of stairs leading up to a lookout.  Steve decided that we should climb them to check out the view..... Well it seems the steps went on for ever....  I certainly did a lot of exercise on this walk... He is actually a bigger slave master than the girls I had been walking with.
Climbing the zillions of stairs.....
Boy were these steep steps.....

The views were definitely worth the climb up...
View from the Lookout....
The horizon was dotted with large tankers waiting to load up in Gladstone....
I needed a break to catch my breath when I got to the top

Everything is beautifully green and lush... Contrast of colours is gorgeous.

Park and ocean views....
The steps went on and on and one....
Steve getting his bearings up at the lookout.
Heading down the stairs.....

 These stairs were steep....
For me it was more of a problem going down, as the steps are really narrow and you can hardly fit your foot on them...
A long way to go down.....
Interesting speed bumps on the road....
Down the bottom and across the road....
Thought I would capture a photo of the beautiful walk way that lines the esplanade.....
So pleased that I managed to go for a walk along here each day....
We're home again for a few days...
Cleaning and unpacking...
Hope to head off again soon to visit our parents and our sweet grand daughter and  our kids...
Will be back soon.....
