AN AUSSIE SANTA

One of the things I enjoy about my job is that when ever there is a special event at school I often get asked to bring in my camera and record it for them... It means that I get to be part of a lot of fun activities and learning experiences around the school...
This year our Preppies were reading these books....

Our Preppies loved this story,,,
One of our Preppie Teacher Aides has a very handy Mother in Law so she got her to make an Aussie outfit for Santa this year.  They used this book as a guide to dressing him...

Used for dressing our Santa.....
I think she managed to do a good job.,..
Tricia has a wonderful neighbour who really does look a lot like Santa who she managed to convince to help her out.....
She helped him get ready....
Our Aussie Santa getting the finishing touches to his outfit by Tricia....
Practice run whilst waiting for his cue to visit the Preppies...
Whilst he was up in the main office getting dressed,  the media were down videoing the reading of the story and our Preppies... We were given the signal and it was then up to our Deputy Principal to walk Santa down to Prep...
Formal photo of Sam and Santa outside the Admin building...
They were then spotted walking through the school grounds....
Then it was down the footpath so that they managed to walk through the front door at Prep....
Santa is spotted in the neighbourhood...
 The kids were ecstatic...
They were so excited.... it got a bit noisy for a while...
There were calls of Santa is really real....
All eyes were glued on him...
I wish I could share the photos with the children in so that you  could see their excitement....
Chatting to the students...
He shared with them the importance of learning...
He also told them that he was holidaying on our coast before heading back to the North Pole to get ready for the Christmas rush...
He had heard that they were all on the "NICE" list this year so thought he would surprise them by dropping in and paying a visit and giving them a nice gift of a book to read over the holidays so that they can still continue to read and learn....
Such a lovely Santa....
Handing out the gifts...
The kids were pretty attentive whilst Santa handed out the gifts...
God shot of Santa with his Aussie Hat on....
Santa with his Helper Mrs Tricia....
After handing out his gifts it was time to leave....
With his empty sack....
The media were all keen to catch up with him and find out about his holiday here on the coast....
Being filmed for the TV News Coverage....
Interviewed by the press...
Then it was time to leave...
Tricia escorted him back up through the school, when there came an announcement over the PA system that Santa was spotted on the school grounds.  Well suddenly classes of children came out from all over the school so he did get a very impressive send off from our students....
Wandering up through the school with Mrs. P
Even our Principal came down to visit him.  I think she wanted to check to make sure that she was still on the "Nice " List as well....
Santa chatting with our Principal...
It was a great break up day for the children and it did get plastered all over the news and the papers.....
This next photo was taken from the Win News Facebook Page.
Preppies from Allenstown State School must be on the nice list this Christmas.
'Aussie Santa' made a quick pit stop today, as he prepares for his busiest night of the year!
