OUR EUROPEAN HOLIDAY - DAY 5 BICYCLING AROUND COPENHAGEN

It was another pretty cruzy start to our day today.  Sarah's sister in law Brenda was arriving this morning which meant that their was another trip out to the airport this morning for Peter and Sarah to pick up Brenda.

I had a pretty low key day as my feet were still a little sore from our day out at Bakken the previous day and as Dan only had one day in Copenhagen,  I decided to start at home and babysit the children while the rest of them went bicylcing around Copenhagen...  figured that Steve and I had a week to do heaps around Copenhagen after the kids all left.

Brenda had a quick nap and then the kids all hired bicucles and Pete took them on a sightseeing tour around Copenhagen.

They started their tour at Kastellet, the Star Fortress,

Heading to Kastellet with St Albains to the right...

They rode around the Kastellet Star Fortress and checked out the Windmill and Army Barracks....

After riding around Kastellet they ended up at  the  near St Albian's church.  Whilst they were here they accidently met up with the Myrtle Street crew Gefion's Fountainso they all joined forces for the rest of their tour around Copenhagen....

Whilst at the Fountain they also checked out the only Church of England church in Copenhagen,  St Albians......

From here they biked over to Amalienborg Palace,  the home of Prince Frederick and our Aussie Princess Mary....  didn't manage to see her today....

From Amalienborg it was straight down the road to the beautiful Marble Church.  Now this was something a little special... Lots of photographs here...

Then it was a bike along the harbour front along the Larsens Plads waterfront promenade to check out that famous little Danish statue "The Little Mermaid.  They had a great view of the Opera house from along here also....

They finally ended up back at Nyhavn.  It was a great Aussie day, and they all had a ball....had lots of photos taken together at Nyhavn...

Pete had to duck off and pick up his rental car to head up to Jutland the following day, before everyone arrived for dinner.

I really felt like we were back home in Australia with so many Australians around....  Pete invited them all back to his place for Pizza for dinner and we had a lovely evening eating them out in the garden.

This was the first time, any of his friends had seen their new apartment, and they were all pretty impressed.  It means now that when they come to visit Pete and Maria in Copenhagen they won't have to rent an Airbnb anymore but will be able to stay with them....

We had a lovely time sitting out in the gardent chatting and catching up.  It is a couple of years since I have seen some of the crew so it was nice to catch up and find out how life has been for them living in the UK.

It was after 11pm before they all went home.  It was a race for bed as we had to be up and on the road as early as possible the following morning.....
