I have a bit of a tradition in that I make patchwork Christmas stocking for all our children and grandchildren.
I have been working on Dan and Max's stockings for a couple of years now, so thought it was time to finish them. I got a bit disgruntled with Dan's as one of the fabrics rang and ruined all the cross-work stitching of Dan's name and I really thought I would have to pull it all apart and put it all back together again. I thought I would have to redo it again. But the girls suggested that I wash it and use the colour rid option to get out the stain. Well wonders will never cease, it actually worked and I was able to continue working on it again.
I also wanted to make a new stocking for our new child who is due to be born in September.
I had a few friends w=from church who were also interested in making some so we thought we would have a girls sewing day to tackle them together,

Willow and Max played well together for the first couple of hours, but she was also keen to give sewing a go. My friend Sue decided to show her how to sew on her machine and I was amazed at hour focused she was whilst she was doing it.
We all contributed to lunch and enjoyed a lovely healthy lunch on on Jannett's back deck. I am so blessed to have these girls as friends...

After lunch Willow decided that she wanted to do some more sewing, so we set her up with some fabric, needle and cotton and she spent a good hour or more focused on making herself a little drawn string bag. She was so thrilled with it that she wanted to make a second one.

Sarah had a doctors appointment back in town at 4.15pm and we wanted to check out Bell Park in Emu Park before leaving the coast. We had heard there were lots of knitted birds and animals in the trees.
We left Jannett's around 2.30pm and headed down into Emu Park. Jannett had told us about some lovely scarves at the Newsagency that were on sale for $7 each so we decided to check them out and I ended up buying a nice navy and silver scarf, We found some great little caravan plates and mugs as well and even though I was tempted, I resisted, Thought I might wait until I take Steve down and he can have a look.
Appartently these holidays, the knitting club at Emu Park had knitted a whole heap of Australian animals and birds which they had placed in the trees in the main Street in Emu Park along with a lot of the trees in Bell Park. As a school holiday activitiy, you could go to the local library, where you could collect a form to help you locate all of the artworks in the area. As we had only a short time to look at it all, we didn't bother getting the form.
The kids did love looking for all the different birds and animals though. These were just some of the ones we saw, I am sure we probably missed quite a few also due to our time restraints. Still we have had a lovely day down at the beach....
These holidays are going way too quickly.
