DAY 2 – THURSDAY 6TH DECEMBER 2018.

Chloe left for work this morning at some ungodly hour around 5am.  Steve and I slept in until around 7.30am before getting up and finalizing the packing of our suitcases ready for the flight this evening…

We wanted to have all this done before we took off to meet Sarah.  Dan and Chloe had very kindly lent us their car for the day so around 10am we took off to meet up with Sarah at Carindale Shopping Centre for a coffee.   We were going to meet her at the Coffee Club there and when we arrived we ran into Bob and Linda Kennedy.  Bob used to teach with Steve at Grammar, so we had a bit of a chat to them.  We hadn’t seen them since they had retired from Grammar.

We had a cuppa with Sarah and then proceeded to do a little Christmas shopping.   From here, Steve and I went to school to pick up Willow and we enjoyed spending some time with her in the classroom where she showed us all her writing and some of her art work at school.  It was great for Steve to see her in her classroom and her school surroundings…  We were very impressed with all the writing she has done….

Whilst we picked up Willow, Sarah went and collected Max from daycare and then we all headed back to Sarah’s place for afternoon tea…

Whilst we were out shopping that morning we bought so cheap Christmas decorations so that we could decorate the tree in Sarah’s front yard with the children after school.

We had a great time with Willow decorating the tree.  Max was more interested in playing in Sarah’s car than decorating the tree….

We left Sarah’s place around 5pm to head back to Dan and Chloe's, and arrived there just before 5.30pm.  We had about an hour to have showers, finish packing out bags and then head for the airport.  We had decided to stop off somewhere a little closer to the airport for dinner.

We found this pretty neat pizza joint somewhere near Toombul where we stopped for dinner together.  Enjoyed a couple of specialty pizza’s all together and them left for the airport about 7.50pm.

By the time we arrived,  the check in desk had opened for our flight so we headed straight to it where we had to line up to check in.   The lady at the counter from Emirates was super helpful and arrived for us to have a space seat between us on both legs of our flights all the way from Brisbane to Copenhagen.  I was ever so thankful.
Ready to check in... we are on our way..
Heading through to the Departure
Bye Australia see you in five weeks
Dan and Chloe came in for a while but didn’t wait too long as parking is pretty expensive at the airport.  It was a good thing anyway, as we had very little time that we could have spent with them as it took us a good two hours to check in, go through security, and the passport check out station, and by the time we walked around to the gate we were boarding from, we had very little time before we had to board the plane.  In fact, I only just had time to put on my compression stockings and go to the toilet and it was time to board.

This was the longest leg of the flight, 14 hours… We were seated in the middle section of the plane, and although pretty cramped it was great having a space seat to sprawl out on.

Pretty happy to be aboard at last... Loving our new noise cancellation BOSE headsets too.

It wasn’t long after we boarded that we were served dinner, which seemed a little bizarre since it was midnight, but the meal was lovely.  I had the chicken and mushrooms with roasted potatoes and vegetables, and Steve had the pepper beef with noodles.

Dinner was served around Midnight...
We then each watched a movie,  “Crazy Rick Asians” for me and Steve watched a movie called “Spinner”.  It was probably around 2am before our movies finished and we still weren’t that tired but decided to take a sleeping pill and try and get a little sleep on the flight.  I think we both managed to get about 5 hours sleep.
Getting some shut eye... Not the most comfortable position to sleep in but at least the headset kept out the noise.
So thankful to Steve for my birthday present.  thought it was a bit extravagant at the time, but what a difference it has made to traveling overseas this time...
