DAY 3 – FRIDAY 7TH DECEMBER, 2018

Most of today was spent on planes.  We arrived in Dubai at 6am their time in the morning, (12.30pm Aussie time) and only had a short stop over here.  No time at all to spare to explore the airport, as we only had an hour and twenty minutes before our connecting flight to Copenhagen left.
Dubhai Airport
Our plane waiting for us on the tarmac -
Wingspan was ginormous

We had been told back in Australia that our arrival gate and departure gate were close by, and this is probably correct but we still had a good km walk between to the two gates.  This airport is ginormous,  goes on for ever.  The shops are very expensive looking but we didn’t have time to explore them on this leg of the journey….

By the time we arrived in Dubai, our flight to Copenhagen was already to boarding stage so it was straight from one plane onto the next…

The flight to Copenhagen was aboard their new 800 airbus.. What a flight.  The seats were way more comfortable, lovely large touch screens, mounted on the seat in front…
Rows of spare seats opposite us made for an enjoyable flight...
More comfortable seating and large touch screen  behind each seat
Two levels on the airbus..
Pretty excited to be on this final leg...
This flight surprised us as it was half empty, there were spare seats all around us so we were well and truly able to sprawl out  for this leg of the journey.  We had thought this leg was also a 8 hour leg but found out as we took off that it was only 6 and a half hours…  What a relief,  big comfy plane, plenty of space and no where near as long a flight as we expected.

We didn’t sleep at all on this leg of the flight.  Instead we watched a couple of movies, had a good chat to the folk behind us who had also traveled from Brisbane,  enjoyed the scenery from the plane window as this leg of our journey was all in daylight.
Take off from Duhbai

We had good views of the desert around Dubai,

and flew over snow capped mountains just before the Caspian Sea.
We arrived into Copenhagen about 10minutes ahead of schedule.  It was damp and overcast when we arrived, a little like it was when we arrived back in 2016.

Cloud views as we approached Copenhagen.  Quite stunning..
Excitement plus as we have less than five minutes before landing in Copenhagen
 Touch down in Copenhagen

It took us a little while to get our suitcase and by the time we got out Pete was there waiting for us.    It was 9 degrees outside so not really that cold at all.  Steve was only in a T shirt and I had a three quarter length T shirt on but we didn’t feel like we needed to put on our coats.  In fact the cool air felt great on our skin.  Very refreshing…

We caught the Metro from the airport into the city and then caught the bus home to Pete and Maria's.  It was a little after 1pm when we arrived home at their place….

Theo had just woken up from his sleep and was having a feed.  He really is the most beautiful baby.  We enjoyed our first lots of cuddles.   Pete remained home with us for about an hour before he had to go back into work.

We were pretty zonked but didn’t want to go to bed too early as we knew we would have trouble sleeping all night.  The sun set at 3.30pm and by 5pm it felt like 10pm at night…
Our beautiful baby boy with his Mumma
Maria went out and got take away Indian for us for dinner whilst we minded Theo.  We had dinner and decided to have a shower to see if that would keep us awake a little longer.  By 7.30pm we gave into the sleep and called it quits and went to bed….

We had a good 12 and a half hour sleep.  The beauty of it being winter here at the moment is that the sun still hadn’t risen at 8am the following morning when we woke up.  Much easier to sleep when it is dark….
