DAY 2 - EASTER AT TANNUM SANDS 2021....
It is still just us and Glen and Lorraine at Tannum Sands. We are still desperately waiting to hear if the Qld Government is going to allow the South East corner of the State to come out of Lockdown. The kids are desperate to come camping so we were all eager to listen to the 9am news report from our Premier.
The news was good, the lockdown would end at 12noon today, but we would have to wear face masks whenever we were indoors other than our homes. This wouldn't affect us too much as we were camping and would be spending most of our time out doors away from civilization...
Sarah and Colin plan to be on the road just after 12noon. It made it a bit easier for this to happen as the Premier had closed our schools down two days earlier...
Steve and Glen spent the morning setting up the big tarp for when everyone came down so that it was ready.... and then at lunch time they set up to drop off the crabpots....
As Glen wasn't used to going out on the water, I suggested to Steve that he bait up all the pots before leaving to go out, this makes life a lot easier than sitting in sandfly infested mangroves whilst you try to bait up...Whilst Steve was getting the pots ready, we had a little visit from a Frill Neck Lizard. We don't often see these in the wild like this, and this one was quite a big one... He was quite inquisitive... and even allowed Steve to photograph him...
Once the pots were all set up, they took off...
The weather is perfect today, a nice breeze which is helping to keep the sandflies at bay a bit, the sun is shining and out of the water is beautiful....
Meanwhile Lorraine and I chilled out back at camp... I decided to get in and get some needlework done, and crossstitch Elliot's name so that I am ready to make his Christmas stocking when we get home from our next lot of holidays...
By lunchtime, the Holiday Park started filling up with their Easter Guests... The park was book out for Easter so we started to get a steady stream of campers...
Charlie was the first to arrive from our group and once Steve got back from putting in our pots, he took up with Charlie to give him a hand in dropping off his pots.
Sarah and Colin got away around 12.30pm but dropped in to the Sunshine Coast to see Colin's parents for a couple of hours. This put them behind slightly but still managed to get of Brisbane before the traffic got too bad...
Steve's bait was a little low, so we took off to the shops around 4pm, to stock up on food for the arrival of everyone, and also to order hot cross buns to serve our campers from morning tea on Sunday...
Most of our campers were in on the Thursday night, the rest of ours would be arriving Friday morning..
Sarah and Colin finally arrived around 9.30pm. So looking forward to spending the break with them.
