DAY 43 – Celebration day today as we celebrated Maria’s mums partners 60th Birthday. Claus actually turned 60 six months ago, but winter is not a good time in Denmark to celebrate such occasions so they had arranged to hold a garden party when the weather was at it’s best, and today it was certainly at its best.

 

 

 

 We couldn’t have asked for better weather. Beautiful blue skies, perfect Summer’s day with the temp at 17 degrees C, sunshine and most importantly no wind. There were 60 guests invited and we had such a lovely time. The Danish people are so friendly and everyone made us feel so welcome. A new first for us as the main meat today was venison, something that we had not tasted before and I have to say it was absolutely delicious. It almost melted in your mouth. One thing we noticed with the Danish people, is that they moment they arrived they went around shaking hands with everyone and introducing themselves. Even the young people did it. A real sign of respect. Not sure if it were done on purpose, but the main wine of the day, was an Australian wine, which made us feel even more at home. People just sat around chatting or playing lawn games and most even stayed on for a Grill for dinner… It was a really lovely day and I am sure that Claus enjoyed every moment of his special day.
